Our Story

From the Block to the Shop

The Pastry Shop was born in the pandemic-era and has now graduated into a flagship bakery, with grander plans in the works.

In June of 2020, when Coronavirus shuttered the city, with her best friend Venetta Smith in tow, Tiara Bennett began selling her handcrafted pastries outside of her BedStuy apartment to bring joy to her neighbors. After a hugely successful response to the small operation, she was able to bring her vision of owning her own bakery to life in June 2023.

New York native Chef/Owner Tiara Bennett spent her entire life in the kitchen in some way or another. Her love of combining food with art, adventure, culture, love, and family was why she decided to attend the International Culinary Center (formerly known as the French Culinary Institute.) Tiara honed her skills under some of the nation’s finest chefs, in the kitchens of numerous Michelin-starred establishments.

The Pastry Box is a canvas for Chef Tiara’s love of classic favorites and complex flavor profiles.
